As the nation commemorates the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the ceremonial turnover of housing units to 216 informal settler families (ISFs) at Barangay Tenejero in Balanga City, Bataan on April 9, 2024.
An initiative of the National Housing Authority (NHA) led by General Manager Joeben Tai, the NHA-Balanga City Low-Rise Housing Project features six (6) buildings designed in a condominium style that will benefit relocated ISFs from along the Talisay River, an area in Balanga City identified as hazard-prone.  Each unit, measuring 27 square meters, is equipped with two (2) bedrooms, a kitchen, toilet, bath, and fully operational water and power supply.

Aiming to build better and more comprehensive housing solutions, the Project also includes basic facilities such as a four (4)-storey school building with 20 classrooms, a multi-purpose building and a covered basketball court.

Furthermore, to ensure that beneficiaries have access to basic commodities, educational facilities and other community necessities, a Community Center Building has also been constructed within the housing project.  It houses a health center, daycare center, barangay learning hub, offices of the Homeowners’ Association (HOA) and a local government unit (LGU) housing satellite office.
This housing project is a testament of the NHA’s commitment to the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance and leadership by building 1.3 million houses to address the country’s six (6) million housing backlog.
