According to the state media KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un oversaw a military display featuring a newly introduced battle tank on Thursday. This demonstration comes amidst joint drills conducted by South Korea and the United States. Kim reportedly conveyed his contentment with the tank's inaugural display, stating that it effectively showcased its formidable firepower.
The army announced that the live fire exercise included tanks, armored vehicles, and FA-50 fighter jets, according to a statement. North Korea has consistently criticized such military exercises as preparations for conflict, while Seoul has characterized them as solely defensive maneuvers. Kim's presence at the demonstration follows his supervision of a recent artillery drill conducted by the Korean People's Army, the nation's military, just last week. The drill encompassed units stationed near the border, capable of reaching "the enemy's capital," as per KCNA, alluding to Seoul, which has an approximate population of nearly 10 million residents. - Apple Majait
